Sales / Estimator
ApplyHartford Building Center is a family owned and operated lumber yard / hardware store located in Hartford,
SD. We proudly offer great selections of building products and have the expertise to help with any project, large or small. We are currently seeking to hire an experienced full-time Sales Person / Estimator.
This position will perform materials take-offs & materials estimating for residential, agriculture and light to medium commercial building projects.
Responsibilities:
• Meet with homeowners, contractors and product vendors
• Answer inquiries and product questions
• Review building plans and determine materials and products needed for those plans
• Estimate costs of project
• Visit job sites as required to perform measurements, gain project knowledge and/or troubleshoot.
Qualifications:
Qualified applicants will have a solid understanding of construction, building materials and estimating processes. Treating our customers and co-workers like family is central to who we are so excellent customer service and communication skills are a must.
• High School Education or equivalent
• One to two years of related experience
• Must have excellent communication and time management skills
• Skilled in reading residential and light commercial blueprints and specification
• Good working knowledge of wood frame construction
• Comfortable talking with builders, homeowners and vendor salesmen
• Must be a self-starter, organized, and comfortable working within strict deadlines
• Competency in basic mathematics and geometry
• Comfortable with computers and receptive to learning new software
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office including Word, excel and Outlook (email and calendar)
• Strong work ethic, reliable and trustworthy
